About Compass Studies

So you want to know the origins of Compass Studies?  Well then…

Compass Studies is… a World of Warcraft (WoW) RP blog.  A majority of the topics that will likely be blogged on here will be discussions on RP-related subjects, as well as delving a bit into lore and being creative with it—without going out of the boundaries Blizzard has placed.  I’m also going to sprinkle some writing excerpts here and there as well, because I tend to hide these things too often from the rest of the world and I really need to stop that.

As for the name itself, the credit/inspiration goes to my old guild.  It was a RP guild whose Latin name meant “Order of the Compass”—which was dedicated to research and scholarly pursuits.  And while this guild wasn’t everyone’s cup of roleplay tea, I had a blast with it writing (and reading) made-up articles about the little things that made to the world of Azeroth come alive.

The author is… a female gamer in her twenties who probably spends way too much time playing World of Warcraft, although I have a tendency to stray and dabble in other games like Lord of the Rings Online from time-to-time.  I’ve been role-playing for a long time, although I wouldn’t call myself a guru on it.  I currently split my playtime between two RP realms (US-Sentinels (RP-PvE) realm with Ravine (80 Warlock) and Amarestine (75 Rogue), and US-Wyrmrest Accord with Tanria (61 Priest)).  I have a few other alts here and there, but I tend to concentrate on one thing at a time, so a good chunk of them are hanging somewhere in their mid-20’s.

In meatspace, I’m… a pineapple.  Although the proper term these days is a transplanted pineapple as I have recently moved from my island home.  I love to write, and I love to draw even moreso (for those interested, I do have a deviantART.)  I also love to cook on occasion as well.  However, contrary to popular belief, I don’t do any of the following: hula, surf, host luaus, and make sacrifices to my volcano gods.  If I did any of these things, I probably wouldn’t be playing online games—for one reason or another.

Well, I hope to make this an entertaining venture for both myself, and for you, the reader—as well as giving some insightful commentary to the colorful world of role-playing in Warcraft.
